An upgraded version of the original Iron Gym, the Extreme Edition boasts two additional grip positions for a total of five: the default narrow, neutral, and wide positions of the first Iron Gym, plus alternate wide and side grips. When installed in the doorway, the device lets you perform pull-ups and chin-ups, with several options for working the inner and outer back. Once you're done with your back workout, you can quickly move the Iron Gym to the floor, where you can perform pushups while facing down, tricep dips while facing the other way, or sit-ups using the Iron Gym for foot stability.

1 out of 5 stars Don't buy it if you have any custom molding   September 1, 2010

Did not fit my door frame, even though mine is within 5-6". No mention of requiring a FLAT doorframe without any custom molding. This product DAMAGED very expensive custom molding. Avoid this product if you don't want your door frame dented and abused.

2 out of 5 stars Good, but only if your door is standard   August 31, 2010

The Workout bar arrived promptly. It was easy to put together and all parts were included. BUT, and this is a BIG BUT, the Workout Bar only fits standard doorways with standard molding. The Workout Bar will not fit in oversize doorways (wider than standar) or normal size doorways with molding that is not "normal." Crown molding or molding that is wider than that commonly found in tract homes is too wide for the Workout Bar to "hook" in place above the doorway. I put mine together only to find it did not fit, and promptly found a place for it in the storage room. Too bad, it looks like it would serve its purpose well if it fit.

3 out of 5 stars Iron Gym, not bad for the money   August 30, 2010

I was looking for someting cheap and convenient. Its not very complicated to assemble, just be sure to look at the picture on the box to make sure you're doing it right. I had to re-do mine because I put something on backward... but no harm done. Unfortunately it does not come with the arm straps for ab workouts. Even though the company offers the straps free with the purchase of the bar, shipping is a few bucks, so keep that in mind. Overall, a nice buy! I've wanted a pull-up bar for some time now. This product screamed at me because of the multiple grips and ease of installment into any door frame. It fits perfectly into my office door frame. So convenient to get up and do a quick workout during study breaks.

3 out of 5 stars Works well but damages painted molding   August 30, 2010
Christopher Fox (Utah)
I really love this machine but it has rubbed off some of the paint from the door frame, which I am embarrassed about because I am living in my aunt and uncles right now and I don't want to damage their home. They need to figure out a way to make the part that touches the door frame so that it doesn't rub the paint off

5 out of 5 stars great for its price   August 24, 2010

This pullup bar is a nice replacement for the much more expensive bar. It has a lot of great positions, is well padded, and is quite sturdy. It allows freedom of movement, which is a big advantage over the bars that don't let you get your elbows away from the door frame.

My only criticism is that the "curved bars" that hold the "stabilizing bar" are not straight (the part at the very top in the picture, which holds the bar in place from the rear). This means that this long, straight, bar does not sit flat across the door frame, but instead angles upward across the wall (it looks like this "/" instead of this "-"). This does not keep it from working well, but is the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

Of note, it will definitely remove the paint on your door frame where they come in contact. Be sure to use a cloth where these areas touch, but even this did not prevent it from removing the top layer of paint.
