Best brace I could find September 2, 2010 Timothy J. Ash (PA) I have been playing basketball all my life and have chronically bad ankles from various injuries I have suffered over the years. I have been through many kinds of ankle braces in an effort to ward off new injuries, but these ones seem to give the best support for me. I've bought at least half a dozen pairs of these over the last 2-3 years.
With ankles as damaged as mine, I'm bound to injure them even with braces on once in a while, and it has happened even while wearing these. However, I am sure they saved me from even worse injury. The price is much lower than some of the other brands like Aircast, etc. They do take some time to put on, but you get good at this quick.
After playing in them 2-3 times a week for about 6 months, they get stretch and get 'soft' and are not as good a support as when they were new, so I buy several pairs a year. After a while the laces wear out from friction on the eyelets and may snap, but you can replace these fairly easily.
All in all, a very good brace for the price, and I would recommend them.
It is a good product August 7, 2010 Hogeun Chi I would say this would be my one of best buy.
I had ankle problem since few months ago and this ankle brace prevents me from getting an injure.
just one little complain is you need to have little space on your shoes when you use this product. Other than that, the best ankle brace I have tried
IMHO - Best all around ankle brace July 20, 2010 sctrojan I had ankle problems for most of my high school and college years from playing soccer, basketball, and football. I twisted and turned my ankle so many times and just wait for it to get better before playing again. Shortly after college, I was playing basketball and landed on someones foot and ended up tearing ligaments. I got these braces soon after healing up (4-5 months later) and have been using them with all my sports activities for the past 10 years. I can honestly say that I have never had another twisted or turned ankle and my ankles feels better than I can ever remember. I have one for each ankle and always use the right one on my right foot and left with left. They break in very well over time and last forever. I've tried the ones with straps and the others with the hard plastic under the heel, but those have been too restrictive while playing sports - for me. I'm just now looking to replace them after almost 10 years of using them (average twice a week). By the way, those who said their arches hurt after first using, they're correct. They just need to be "broken in" and the arch pains go away. Hope this helps.
Better in some areas, not in others May 23, 2010 Mary K Gorman (CA) I have a weak ankle from a two sprains and a bad twist, I was using an generic ankle brace until the elastic material starting falling apart. I used this as a substitute while working out. I do really like how it keeps the ankle firm, but I would call it a bit too firm (the size isn't the issue, it fits fine, just difficult to even bend at the foot). Overall, I can't complain about it, I rather be safe than have another injury with that ankle.
The only problem is, it doesn't seem to support the arch of my foot at all. It says it has arch support but I don't see a single thing in the actual product to support that claim. And I wasn't even aware I needed arch support before this! My other ankle brace didn't seem to focus on that too much either, but it apparently had something. I'm only in socks and my other foot feels fine, just the one in the brace hurts, and it's only on the arch. Just after 10 minutes of use with this brace, the arch of my foot is throbbing in pain to the point I need to stop and rest it a bit. I tried adjusting the brace, didn't work. I tried adjusting the laces to make it looser or tighter and it did not help the situation in the slightest.
I don't think I can continue to use this product since all I'm doing is trading one pain for another.
a waste of money March 9, 2010 Joshua T. Price (tx) 1 out of 12 found this review helpful
