Spalding KOB volleyball September 1, 2010 CFlynn (CORPUS CHRISTI, TX, US) Awesome beach ball for competitive outdoor play. Has the very traditional feel that I've enjoyed for over 20 years on the beach since learning to play using Spalding's Top-Flight volleyballs. We have a consistent 10-15 mph breeze on our beach so this ball plays so much better than the Wilson AVP which moves around like a ping-pong ball in the slightest breeze. The play of the AVP ball is not much different from bringing an indoor volleyball to the beach. People always whine that the Wilson is the best ball out there, yet you haven't seen it ever used in the Olympics and it sure as hell won't be in London in 2012. I'd rather have Olympic gold (or silver or bronze) than a tourney win on the (now defunct) AVP tour. Also I've noticed several occasions (two most recent at a beach tourney on 08/21/2010) where the AVP ball will develop a leak when encountering debris or rough sand and stop holding air. Have yet to encounter this with the KOB ball. Plus, we work with Jr players throughout the summer and this is the ball they use on the US open Jr Beach Tour that has three stops in our state, so it helps them to train with it before playing in the tour stops.
great ball for the beach July 26, 2010 Jeff Mick (santa cruz ca) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It isn't the official ball for the AVP but it was for the CVBA for a few years until the AVP cut a deal with Wilson.
I like this ball better anyway, it is 10 grams heavier but doesn't seem like it. It is a very "live" responsive ball & easy to control. It is water proof as is the AVP ball & just as durable. It is possible that the Spalding King of the Beach V-ball will earn favor with the CVBA once again. Most people find favor with this ball over the yellow paneled AVP ball.
Excellent buy!! March 2, 2010 Kimberly Wallace (Navarre, FL USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very best buy for a Spalding King of the Beach outdoor volleyball! Speedy shipping and quality product. We play beach volleyball all the time and this is by far our favorite ball to use. I highly prefer this to the Wilson AVP yellow and white ball. We play close to the ocean, which means that sometimes the volleyballs go into the water...the Spalding dries out much faster than the Wilson and doesn't get nearly as waterlogged. I highly recommend this volleyball...well worth the price!!
awesome new outdoor ball February 27, 2010 Lindsay E. Burns (Austin, TX USA) Our outdoor volleyball tournaments are moving to this ball as the official ball. Wanted to get one a bit early to get a feel for it before the summer. Love it and the price!
Excellent ball, excellent delivery service February 6, 2010 Tamar Gurunlian I have absolutely no complaints. I'm part of a community of beach volleyball players that play everyday, and we always choose to play with this particular Spalding. This Spalding volleyball has a nice texture, and its properties allow for us to have more ball control. Viva Spalding!
