This is "The One" February 27, 2010 Dean Withrow (Mass) I've been in the sport,,, well, forever. Many styles, (indoors and beach), have been pounded into my face. After many years out of the gym, using AVP balls, I've begun playing in local leagues. The synthetics are lively and easy to handle, but lack the feel and responsiveness of the full leather IMO. I convinced the league players to switch to my Tach SVSW Gold and the response was immediate, they loved it (the ball they were using was a Tach SVSWS). Going from an all white ball to the bright colors was noticeably easier to track and make solid contact with. I would highly recommend this one to anyone serious about their game. I also own two Mikasa indoor leather balls and the Tach has a softer and sweeter response, feels light and "pops" nicely when hammered. It takes a few games to soften up, but you'll love it from day one.
Mine has been nothing but durable. February 25, 2010 Joshua D. Martin (Parkland, WA) I have been playing with this ball for over a year (January 7, 2009) and the only problem I have had was a brother in law coming to town and inflating it to 15 to 20 pounds. I put half an ounce of ball seal it in and have not had a problem with it at all. I'm looking it over and the end of one of the panels has pulled almost 1/16 of an inch away from the other panel. The writing is completely gone and all of the panels have a dirt border.
It is durable though you could get a bad one as with any product
It is much softer than the $20 Mikasa I bought and played two painful games with - and it is still in better condition. I hate Composite balls.
The double bladder is still holding it's round shape.
If you want a less expensive ball the M version is a quality single bladder ball and it feels softer.
Good ball but not as soft as I wanted. October 23, 2009 T. Ogden (Fate, TX) This is a good ball but is a little harder than I wanted. It has softened up some with more use though. I love the way it looks though.
Light and Awesome! October 4, 2009 Darius C. Chow (Madison, WI) I bought this off Amazon. Had a few defects with the colored ones, but returned those. So after playing with it for a year, I realized that not many people in my open gym like this ball. It may just have been my particular ball, but even though I like the soft touch from a hard spike, my friends don't like to use my ball because it is just too light.
I have played in club with the molten balls and they are rather hard and at least have some weight. This ball, however, seems like you're not really hitting anything because it is so light. Good thing though (as mentioned by other reviews), is that even after using the ball a while, it keeps its roundness. For me (unlike other reviewers), the panels stay intact over the year I have been using it. But since it is true leather, any scratches my remain on the ball rather permanently, so take care of it!
Defective balls August 7, 2009 Willy Wangsa (Ann Arbor, MI USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought the ball from Amazon.com. It's really excellent ball to play with until I saw the leather start peeling on several spots within 2 months of the purchase. I contacted Tachikara to get replacement and it cost me $15 to ship it back. I just got NEW replacement 3 days ago (it took 1 month for inspection and shipping) and was doubt with the quality by looking at the assembly. I inflated the ball carefully following the instruction. I've been using for 2 days and now the ball is leaking on the valve. I don't want to spend another extra $15 to ship it back. It's really poor quality made for such a famous brand. I'm really out of luck.
