BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD, oh and did I mention BAD! July 13, 2006 My wife got me this for father's day. I was excited to see a video featuring Layne Flack, who is one of those poker players that you would love to get a glimpse of how he plays, and how he would approach a situation.
I was very disappointed in the quality, first off. It was super cheezy. Layne's (and Binion boy's) scripted lines were horrendous. I have seen better acting in a 8th grade play then in this video. The tips were very basic. Nothing mind blowing.
The 'bulleted' overlay written on the screen, sorry I don't know the technical term for this, but these looked like they were straight out of a PowerPoint 97 presentation. They would wait until the sequence would be done, then reinforce the 'points' in a screen afterward.
Overall, I was very disappointed and felt truly bad for Layne for being in this video. I hope he doesn't take alot of "Flack" for this, because I'm sure it's not his fault, as I've seen him doing interviews before that are quite natural and comfortable.

Wow ... Does the first reviewer actually play poker ??? I can't believe I spent money on this DVD ... First off, the quality of the video itself is basically the same as if you recorded it on a camcorder and ported it to DVD ... Terrible lighting, cheesy characters, backgrounds and music, and sound like what you get when you're recording those high school sports shows on local access cable channels ...
Getting beyond the low quality of the video, the content is brief, introductory (at best) and easily found within 5 minutes on the internet ...
Nope, I cannot believe I spent $14 on this video ... The Binion's have been important in the poker world, but this video is a complete waste of time and money ... Beware if you buy it, you WILL be dissappointed ...
Layne, Layne, Layne, I can't believe you put your likeness to this project ... And, please, you may have won back-to-back WSOP tournies, but please don't make back-to-back DVDs this bad ...
If you're good.......... this dvd will only make you better! March 29, 2006 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
First off my hat go's off to Binion family. What a great video.... Layne Flack who is a 5 time world camp is not my favorite player, but I was so impressed by what he have to share on the video, he is now my hero! For those of you that don't know of the Binion family who created the World Series of Poker, this is you chance to hear them up close with the history behind the Binion's Horseshoe and Casino in Las Vegas. Now, I've been playing the game of poker for 12 years straight and this DVD is the best you can get..BUY IT..its worth its weight and gold.
