National Geographic Traveler Panama August 17, 2010 C. C. Kratzenberg (Bahamas) A good book to familiarize a visitor with Panama. Books of this quality and written in English are very difficult to find in Panama.
National Geographic Scores Again! May 23, 2010 Gustavo A. Mellander, Ph.D., D.H.L. (George Mason Univer., Virginia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a good book. Full of useful information, reasonably priced and up to date.
Panama is indeed an exciting and very multi-faceted country. This book details all national regions and is as good as self-directed books can get. Well worth the price.
The authors do get carried away with overly flowery verbiage at times, but I rather live with enthusiam than without it. And frankly having lived in Panama, I can appreciate why tourists and those who have just arrived can be overwhelmed by the variety and natural beauty of the country.
Hopefully after visting the isthmus, readers will be interested in studying Panama's unique and evolving history.
Dr. Mellander has written several books about Panama including the highly acclaimed, "The United States in Panamanian Politics."

My order was delivered fast as it usually is from Amazon. That's probably my main concern as I can tend to be a little on the impatience side when waiting for something to come in the mail.
I also like the fact that I can use any credit card and don't have to go through paypal. I do not like paypal, so again Amazon meets my needs perfectly. AND outside of Walmart of course, they have some of the best prices.
Good, but ould be better December 18, 2009 M T Pockets (Brenham, TX United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This was a pretty good book. Popular with others, as I saw two more copies among fellow travelers. My biggest complaint is the effusive use of adjectives in describing things. More appropriate for the tourism dept. I just want simple facts. If it was pretty, say it was pretty, instead of saying the bejeweled expanse of powdery sand as white as gypsum dazzled the senses, and so forth.
Get this Book and the Map and you are set!! March 3, 2009 Billy Wind (US Virgin Islands) Get this book and the National Geo waterproof Map and you are set for the adventures of your lifetime! Great book to go along with the map!!
Covers more than all the other guide books and is up to date (2/2009)!
